AWKA – Anambra police command has arrested seven persons for ballot snatching and disruption of the electoral process, as well as a two armed police men of mobile Police Force on illegal duty.
In a statement the commissioner of police deployed to the state on election duty
Mr. Rabiu Ladodo, said there was “incident of ballot box snatching at Onuma imeobi Square ward 6 unit 4 Onitsha, as well as vote buying, disruption of election in some polling units, alleged abduction of a presiding officer and a youth corps member in Ndiokolo unit, Orumba North LGA of Anambra South Senatorial Zone”.
He said the cases have been transferred for investigation at the State CID, Awka and effort is being intensified to rescue the abducted persons and bring perpetrators to justice.
He listed exhibits recovered from the suspects as: one mini shuttle bus, two motorcycles, the sum of N110,920.00,Two handbags containing dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and two knives.
He assured Anambra people and residents that all hands are on deck to ensure that the election is conducted to the logical conclusion peacefully.
