A suspected kidnapper, Magaji Gudaji, 30, has landed in police net following the N2million ransom he allegedly received from a businessman (name withheld) in Malumfashi, Katsina State. The suspect, a resident of Dayi in Malumfashi local government area of the state, was said to have threatened the businessman to pay him the ransom or risk abduction to an unknown destination.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Gudaji was arrested penultimate Tuesday around 5pm in possession of the handset he used in making contact with the businessman. It was further learnt that the police also recovered from him a copy of the written note he sent to the man.
The spokesman of the state police command, Isah Gambo, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying investigation into the allegation that the man is also a member of notorious kidnapping syndicate is in progress. Meanwhile, the police patrol team at Fago in Sandamu local government area of the state had swooped on a suspect, Sani Sanusi, from Kwangwalom, Maiadu’a local government area, in possession of 26 sealed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp while on transit to Niger Republic.
The command spokesman, Isah Gambo, who confirmed that the suspects was arrested around 5pm last Monday based on a tip off, said, in the course of on-going investigation, the suspect confessed to have specialised in trans-border Indian hemp trafficking across the borders of Nigeria and Niger Republic.
