The Magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara State capital on Tuesday remanded one ex-prison officer, Abubakar Muhammed a.k.a Abu Eleje over alleged cultism and murder.
The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that sometimes in July 2017 beside Honeymoon Hotel Ilorin, one Taiwo Toheeb Useni, Tina Oyedepo, Bimbo, Lesbe, Pinging, Mohammed aka Abu Eleje and others who are still at large are members of the notorious dreaded Aiye secret cult. The FIR stated that the accused criminally conspired and killed one Omo Alhaja, a member of a rival cult group.
Further investigation led to the recovery of one American pistol, eight live cartridges and a black axe at the accused residence in Balogun Fulani area.
Mohammed was dragged before Magistrate Ahmed Ibrahim for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, being member of secret cult and unlawful possession of firearm contrary to Section 97 and 221 of Penal Code Law, Section 2 punishable under Section 14 of Secret Cult Societies (prohibition) Law 2006 and Section 28(i) of Firearms Act Cap 146 Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The prosecutor, Insp. Nasiru Yusuf prayed the court to remand the accused in prison custody pending the conclusion of police investigation on the matter.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ibrahim remanded the accused persons on adjourned date but while the case was adjourned to 26th February, 2019 for further mention.
