A Video circulating on Social Media that suggests that officers from Ghana Immigration Service have clamped down on some Nigerians for printing counterfeit cedi notes.

The Immigration officers, upon a tip off, paid a surprise visit to the hideout of the men. The laptops and devices which they used in printing the fake currencies were seized. All of them were packed into an Immigration bus and sent to the headquarters for prosecution.

NaijWeb earlier reported that some faceless people were seen using the money-making machine to their own convenience. Although the identities of the people behind this illegality are not yet known, they were seen cutting GHC20 notes. The two minute 42-second video showed the guy(s) putting raw papers in the machine, which immediately processed fake cedi notes.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has described as worrisome the reported mass arrest and deportation of Nigerians from Ghana. This was made known in a statement by the senior special assistant to the president of Nigeria on foreign affairs and diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa. The statement said they had taken notice of renewed harassment, arrest and deportation of hundreds of Nigerians from Ghana.
